Cinnamon rolls

Ingredients


Rolls -

  • 1 cup - Milk

  • 1.5 tsp - Dried active yeast

  • 2 cups + 1/4 cup - All-purpose flour

  • 1/4 tsp - Baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp - Baking soda

  • A pinch - Salt

  • 1/4 cup - Sugar

  • 1/4 cup - Oil

Filling Ingredients -

  • 1/4 cup - Olive oil or melted butter

  • 1 cup - Almonds, walnuts finely chopped

  • 3 tsp Cinnamon powder

  • 1/3 cup - Brown sugar

Glaze Ingredients -

  • 1/3 cup Honey

  • 1-2 tsp Rose water

  • 1/4 tbsp Warm water

Preparation

  1. Heat milk, oil and sugar until sugar dissolves.

  2. When the milk is lukewarm add yeast and let it sit for 5 - 10 until it becomes frothy.

  3. Whisk in 2 cups of the flour. Mix well and let it rest for 1 to 2 hours.

  4. Once dough has doubled, add in the1/4 cup flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Chill for 30 to 60 mins.

  5. Dust the working space with flour and roll out the dough to a rectangle shape with 1/8th inch thickness.

  6. Once rolled, brush the olive oil liberally. Spread the brown sugar evenly. Top with cinnamon powder and nuts evenly.

  7. Roll the dough tightly from the long side and seal tightly.

  8. Cut into 2 inches and place them with little space between each other in a well greased baking dish.

  9. Preheat the oven to 392 F degrees. Let the rolls rest for another 30 mins.

  10. Bake for 15 to 20 mins until the top is golden brown.

  11. Mix the glaze ingredients and pour on top of rolls when warm.

  12. Let it soak for 15 to 30 mins. Serve warm.
