Ingredients:

Grind to Paste -
  • Skinned Peanuts - 4 tbsp

  • White Sesame Seeds - 3 tbsp

  • Poppy Seeds - 1.5 tsp

  • Grated Coconut - 3 tbsp

  • Ginger - 3/4"

  • Garlic - 3

  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp

  • Tumeric Powder - 1/4 tsp

  • Kashmiri Chilli powder - 1.5 tsp

  • Fenugreek Seeds - 1/8 tsp

Other Ingredients -
  • Bajji Chilli or Jalapenos - 6

  • Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp

  • Onion - 1 (med - finely chopped)

  • Tamarind Water - 1/2 cup

  • Jaggery or Brown Sugar - 1 tsp

Direction:

  1. Dry roast peanuts, sesame seeds, poppy seeds and grated coconut

  2. Grind the roasted ingredients along with ginger, garlic, fenugreek seeds, garam masala, turmeric and kashmiri red chili powder to smooth paste

  3. De-seed the chillies and saute in oil. Keep aside

  4. Add cumin seeds to the same oil and let it splutter

  5. Add finely chopped onion and saute till transparent

  6. Add the ground paste, tamarind water, brown sugar and salt, Mix well

  7. Add 2.5 cups of water, cover and cook on med heat for 30 mins

  8. Add the sauted chilli and simmer for another 5 mins and serve hot
