Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Fried Rice)

Ingredients:

  • Cooked rice - 2 cups (Raw rice or Long Grain rice)

  • Garlic - 3 cloves (minced)

  • Ginger - 1/4" (minced)

  • Red Chilli - 1

  • Shallot - 1

  • Shredded Cabbage - 1 cup

  • Beans - 10 nos

  • Carrot - 2 nos

  • Peas - 1/4 cup

  • Cubed Tofu - 1 cup

  • Sweet Soy sauce - 2.5 tbsp (Kecap Manis)

  • Soy Sauce - 1 tbsp

  • Sambal Olek - 1.5 tbsp

  • Crushed Pepper - 1/2 tsp

  • Sunny-side up omelette - 1 (Optional)

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in a wok. Add the vegetables, little salt and saute till they are cooked. Keep this aside.

  2. Heat oil, add red chilies, minced garlic and ginger. Saute till aroma comes.

  3. Add shallots and saute till they are transparent.

  4. Add the cooked rice, salt, kecap manis and soy sauce. Mix well until the rice is well coated. Let the rice heat up for 3 to 4 mins.

  5. Add the sauté vegetables, sambal olek and crushed pepper to the rice and mix well.

  6. Serve hot with a sunny-side up omelette.

Notes:
  • Use cooked rice that is a day old for better taste
