Bombay Halwa

Ingredients

  • Water - 2 cups (500ml)

  • Sugar - 2 cups

  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp

  • Cornflour - 1 cup + 1.5 cups water (mixed as slurry)

  • Ghee - 6 tbsp

  • Red color

  • Cashews - 1/4 cup

  • Almonds - 1/4 cup

  • Melon Seeds - 1/4 cup

Direction

  1. Fry the chopped nuts on low flame and keep aside.

  2. Heat 2 cups water with sugar and boil until the sugar completely dissolves.

  3. Then add the cornflour slurry mixture and keep mixing.

  4. Once it starts to thicken, add nuts, and red color. Mix well.

  5. Add 2 tbsp ghee at a time and keep mixing until the ghee is absorbed. Repeat for 2 more times.

  6. Once the halwa leaves the sides, pour on a greased plate. Let it cool for 4 hours and cut into pieces.
